Stephen joined Butler & Co in July 1993 and became a partner in September that year. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980 and worked for several practices, mainly in the Southampton area before joining Butler & Co. Stephen has had many years experience dealing in owner managed businesses of all trades and professions. He has particular expertise in business start ups, incorporation of businesses and public houses. Other clients include construction contractors, haulage contractors, medical and dental professionals and many retail trades.
Gerrard Clarke – Accounts Manager
Gerrard joined Butler & Co in February 1996. He brings a wealth of accounts and audit experience to the firm having worked for small practices in Hampshire since 1977. Gerrard is the accounts and audit manager. He also specialises in advising clients regarding computerised bookkeeping and has great experience of many software systems.
Clare Cowe AAT – Tax Manager
Clare started working for Butler & Co in 2000 as a tax manager. She has qualified as a financial adviser and also has her Association of Accounting Technicians qualification. Clare manages the tax affairs for a range of clients who are dealt with at the Bishops Waltham office.
Sharon Gwynn MAAT – Payroll Manager
Sharon started working for Butler & Co in June 2004 as a payroll manager. She became a member of Association of Accounting Technicians in 2006 and has an International Association of Book-keepers qualification in manual and computerised payroll.
Steven Ferris MAAT – Trainee Chartered Accountant
Steven joined Butler & Co (Bishops Waltham) Limited in August 2007 as an Accounts Assistant dealing with all aspects of accounts preparation, preparing VAT returns and assisting with audit work. He became a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians in December 2008 having successfully sat the final exams in August 2008. He is currently registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is studying to take the exams to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.
